The Coach Education Unit recently organized an in-depth U15 Player Education Program in the Kurunegala District, aimed at nurturing the next generation of cricketers. The program saw renowned coach educators Chaminda Thotagamuwa and Sanjaya leading specialized sessions on the fundamentals of batting and bowling. Chaminda focused on the technical aspects of batting, guiding young players through shot selection, footwork, timing, and building innings. He emphasized the importance of game awareness, teaching them how to handle pressure in different match situations.
Sanjaya, on the other hand, conducted sessions on bowling, covering crucial elements like line and length, seam positioning, and variations such as yorkers and slower balls. He also taught the players about field placements and tactical adjustments bowlers need to make during a game. The program not only enriched the players’ understanding of cricketing techniques but also provided them with valuable insights into match strategies, preparing them for future competitive scenarios.
