The U-15 Players Nutrition Program for Western Province North Outer – Gampaha District Zone 3 was held on October 30th at the High Performance Center in the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium (RPICS). Organized by the Coach Education Unit, this session ran from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm and was led by Physician Dr. Hashan Amaratunga.
Dr. Amaratunga engaged the young cricketers in an insightful session on the importance of balanced nutrition and its role in athletic performance. Emphasizing the value of healthy foods, he explained how the right balance of macronutrients and vitamins is essential for fueling energy, supporting recovery, and maintaining peak physical and mental health.
The discussion also highlighted the ideal intake of vitamins, essential for young athletes, particularly those in demanding sports like cricket, where endurance, focus, and agility are crucial. Dr. Amaratunga emphasized that staying healthy is a result of consistent, mindful eating habits, making each meal a step towards improved performance. This program not only provided a practical guide to nutrition but also empowered these young players with knowledge they can apply both on and off the field.
